National Foundation for Credit Counseling Honors Leading Credit Counselor Monday, Oct 10th, 2005 Local professional excels in leadership, counseling approach and training
Scott Hehman, Counseling Services Coordinator, Consumer Credit Counseling Services of Mobile has been named Outstanding Individual Counselor by the National Foundation for Credit Counseling (NFCC) Silver Spring, MD.
The Professional Achievement and Counseling Excellence (PACE) award typically is given to one credit counselor who demonstrates significant leadership among his peers, within the credit counseling industry and in helping clients to get back on track financially – regardless of the solution. Candidates are nominated by an NFCC member organization.
Hehman was one of four individuals honored during the NFCC's 40th Annual Leaders Conference held in late September in Albuquerque, N.M. Sandra Dunaway, Director of CCCS of Mobile in Mobile, AL, nominated Hehman based on his unique ability to counsel both clients and co-workers alike and to lead CCCS of Mobile's efforts to expand its counseling services to include housing counseling. CCCS also has offices in Montrose and Jackson, Al.
Hehman currently holds four certifications: Certified Consumer Credit Counselor with the NFCC; Certified HECM Counselor with the AARP Foundation; Certified Homeownership Counselor by the Homeownership Consortium of Alabama, Inc.; and Certified Consumer Interviewer for FCRA by the Consumer Data Industry Association.
"We are pleased to honor an individual counselor such as Scott Hehman who regularly goes above and beyond the call of duty of a credit counselor," said Susan C. Keating, President and CEO of the NFCC. "Hehman ensures that both his colleagues and clients have a thorough understanding of all of the options available to consumers to better manage their money and overcome financial hurdles."
The NFCC, the nation's largest and longest serving nonprofit credit counseling organization, was founded in 1951. Its 115 member agencies provide a range of counseling and education services at more than 1,000 community-based locations throughout the United States and Puerto Rico. All NFCC member agencies are nonprofit entities that are independently accredited by the Council on Accreditation (COA) and observe the highest ethical and quality standards.
