Strengthening Families Friday, Jan 1st, 2010 - Friday, Dec 31st, 2010 The Strengthening Families Program (SFP) is a nationally and internationally recognized parenting and family strengthening program for families at risk.
SFP is an evidence-based family skills training program found to significantly reduce problem behaviors, delinquency, and alcohol and drug abuse in children and to improve social competencies and school performance. Child maltreatment also decreases as parents strengthen bonds with their children and learn more effective parenting skills.
The 14 week class is held on Tuesdays from 4p - 6p. The parents and teens meet separately the first hour. Then, the groups come together to discuss selected topics during the second hour. Topics include discipline, conflict resolution, developmental expectations and positive interactions.
